This unique island that resembles a face will welcome you to El Nido when you take Island Hopping Tour C. |
A lot of tourists who stop by El Nido don't get to take Island Hopping Tour C because they only stay for a day or two and end up taking only Island Hopping Tours A and B. Another reason why some Filipinos might opt not to take this is because of the higher price. This island hopping tour is offered by El Nido Boutique and Artcafe for 1,000 pesos/person.
If you have the time and money, I highly suggest you take this tour. Among the highlights of this tour are the Secret Beach, the Hidden Beach, and the Star Island. As a final stop, the guide will take you to Helicopter Island, an island where a couple of Pawikan Turtles frequent to feed. It is also a beautiful island to just lounge and will time away.

EL NIDO TOWN
Get a panoramic view of El Nido Town as you leave the town for the Island Hopping Tours.
SECRET BEACH (MATINLOC ISLAND, EL NIDO)
First stop is the Secret Beach. Shown in the picture is the entrance to the secret beach. Yes, you will have to swim through a hole just to get to the beach. Inside you'll see an actual beach with sand and shore and not just a lagoon. It is said to be the inspiration for Alex Garland's best-selling novel "The Beach."
Unfortunately, I didn't bring my camera inside so the Secret Beach will have to remain secret for now. This site has a pretty good picture of the beach inside.
STAR ISLAND (EL NIDO)
Next stop is the breathtaking Star Island. It probably got its name from the limestone karst on the right picture that sort of forms a shape similar to a star. You won't be able to resist the invitation to swim from the crystal clear blue waters. It also is a good place to snorkel (Not as good as Entalula Island but good enough).
LUNCH STOP
Just right across Star Island, the boat will stop for lunch. You'll be greeted by this view. It's simply paradise.

THE HIDDEN BEACH (EL NIDO)
After lunch, you'll head next to the Hidden Beach. This is the entrance going to the Hidden Beach.
This is just one side to the Hidden Beach. Unknown to many, there's a cave at the far end of this beach. You can go through this cave and it will lead you to the open sea. The natural light that beams like a spotlight inside this tunnel is a perfect opportunity to have your pictures taken.
HELICOPTER ISLAND (EL NIDO)
Like Tour A, the last stop would be a place where you can just relax and lounge on the beach. For Tour C, the perfect beach is at Helicopter Island. The island gets its name from its shape which resembles a helicopter.
It's a beautiful island perfect for taking lots of memorabilia pictures.
This is on one side of Helicopter Island. The rocks create a different look and texture to your beach photos.
Unknown to many, this island is actually frequented by a couple of Pawikan Turtles. They feed on the sea bed just by the edge before the floor slopes steeply. You'll have to swim a little farther out than usual just to spot them but once you do, you'll be greatly rewarded. It's an opportunity to see the turtles feeding on their natural environment. Ask your boatman to help you spot them. The guides at El Nido Boutique and Art Cafe are great at spotting them.
While we were there, we spotted the Tao Expedition boat. The El Nido Expedition that was featured in the New York Times. Maybe before the world ends, I can board this boat and sail aimlessly in El Nido and Coron as well. (Tao Philippines)
For posterity's sake, since I had one taken in Coron (Palawan), might as well have one taken in El Nido.
El Nido is Love. And I definitely love El nido back.
This is my fourth post about El Nido. If you wanna catch up, here are the first three posts:
