Things to do in Legazpi City (Philippines)

If I had a day or two to explore the wonderful city of Legazpi in the Philipines, I would do the following all over again:

1. Eat at Bigg's Diner.  A local fast food joint serving Bicol delicacies.  I had Porkchop with Laing. Yum!

2. Pass by the Albay Pili Nut House for Pili Nut shopping.  I suggest you stick to buying the whole Pili Nut varieties and stick to best sellers like the Pili Nut Brittle, Crispy Pili Nut with Honey, and the Pili Butternuts.
Feel like a celebrity and have your portrait taken at their celebrity wall as well.

3. Stroll along the capitol area.  Visit the Legazpi City Hall and the Legazpi Cathedral.

4. Enjoy the sight and sounds of the city.  Visit the LCC mall or the Pacific Mall.

 5. At night, go to Embarcadero de Legazpi.  Take the free electric jeepney to the mall.  Try the coffee at La Mia Tazza Coffee.  There's a Bigg's diner inside the mall as well.

6. Day Trip to Daraga Church!

7. Hike up to Lignon Hills for some exercise!  On a clear day, you can zip line with the Mayon Volcano as your backdrop.

8. Day trip to Cagsaua Ruins!

The spiritual administration of Cagsaua from 1587 to 1595 was under the parish of Camalig. An early church was burned, 25 July 1636, by the dutch who ransacked the towns bordering Legaspi Bay.  This church built after 1724 by Fray Francisco Blanco, O.F.M., was buried by rocks and lava during the eruption of Mayon Volcano, 1 February 1814.  The authorities of Cagsaua meeting at Ligao, 6 July 1814, decided to incorporate their town as part of Daraga.  The first sentenary of the destruction of the church was commemorated, 1 February 1914, with a huge pilgrimage to the ruins where high mass was celebrated.

9. Have your portrait taken with the majestic Mayon Volcano (Mount Mayon).
