Corporate Social Responsibility has gained popularity in the recent years and companies are learning to be more socially responsible and are now giving back to the communities. In this light, Google has launched its project called Project 10 to the 100th. Google is asking everyone for great ideas that can change the world and help as many people as possible. They are committing $10 million to this project. So you have an idea that can change the community or country you are in, but lack the funding to implement the project, this might be the right opportunity for you. Visit the site (http://www.project10tothe100.com/index.html) for more details. Deadline for submission of ideas is on October 20, 2008.
If you know of friends who are into social services like Habitat for Humanities and Gawad Kalinga, you might want to inform them so that they can enter in this project. Selection of the best ideas will be done through online voting so we definitely stand a chance! The project's tag line says it all "May Those Who Help the Most Win!" Calling my friends E and N in Cebu!!! (Voting will commence on Januray 27th.)
A friend once said that giving back through company promotions like this one doesn't really impress him because the company gains recognition as well through the promotions. And Google doesn't hide this fact. In their site Google wrote that they chose this project because they believe that "the only thing that increases individual happiness over time is helping other people. In other words, helping helps everybody, helper and helped alike." Google realizes that by helping others they are being "helped" as well. And personally, I don't mind that Google benefits from this promotion as well, what counts more is that they are doing something to HELP! That for me is more than enough.
I hope a project that will benefit Filipinos worldwide will win. Ask Google to remind you when it's time to vote. Go to this link (http://www.project10tothe100.com/reminder.html).
