Team Canada 4th Pyromusical International Fireworks Competition

Here's a video of the fireworks display from Team Canada at The 4th Philippine International Pyromusical Competition held at SM Mall of Asia.

Team Canada was represented by Fireworks Spectacular and is the current defending champion, winning the event last year.

An elegantly choreographed piece well in sync with the music.  Enjoy!

Feng Shui for 2013 - Year of the Snake

Year of the Water Snake 2013 - Feng Shui
General Outlook for the Year of the Snake 2013 ( Feng Shui)

  • A Year with Sustenance Luck - unlike the previous year where we saw a lot of political changes and upheavals in many countries, this coming year we will see a lot of CONSOLIDATION - Focus will be back on achieving GOALS.
  • 2013 signifies the beginning of the second half of the Period of 8.  Therefore young people will continue to exert strong influence (good or bad)  in the world.
  • In 2013, Intelligence, Mental Capability, and Creativity will also overcome the raw use of Power.  Intellectual pursuits will be auspicious.
  • 2013 also signifies the presence of the Powerful Mentor Star - this suggests that those in positions of authority will tend to be kinder and more tolerant towards subordinates.  It will be a good time to seek the help of Mentors.  It also signifies the continuity of RECOVERY and ADVANCEMENT of the worlds' economies. I'm Spicy and I Know It

Turmeric powder in capsules.
2013, the Year of the Water Snake will start on February 10, 2013.  According to Feng Shui experts Lillian Too and Jennifer Too, Earth born Horses (1978) will have tremendous Wealth Luck helped by two Big Auspicious Stars this year!  The downside is a lack of VITALITY and PERSONAL POWER luck.  Therefore it is recommended that horses show their RESILIENCY and that NEVER-GIVE-UP Attitude for this year.

Related to vitality is the horse's health.  It is important that horses' take care of their health.  Surrounding yourselves with GREEN will improve your luck as well.  As for your personal power, wearing gold and using wind chimes will do you good.  (More after the jump!)

Ayala Triangle Christmas Lights and Sound Show Video 2012

Ayala Triangle Lights, Laser, and Sound Show 2012 features colorful and moving Orbs.

The Ayala Triangle Gardens' Laser and Lights Show has become an attraction worth anticipating every Christmas season.  Last year, Ayala Triangle used inflatable stars in different colors as highlights.  This year, they used moving orbs as theme.

The show is definitely worth visiting.  It's great for the whole family.  Kids would surely love the experience.  Not only are the movements and the lights in sync with the music, the show also uses fog machines and laser lights!  Best of all, it's for FREE!

The show runs for about 7 minutes with a few minutes after allotted for everyone's favorite activity - picture taking!  It'll run from November 16 - December 30, 2012 every 30 minutes from 6:00 to 9:00 pm.

For all my friends who can't visit the place this Christmas season, here's the 9:00pm show showcasing Filipino Christmas Songs!

Philippine Passport Renewat at DFA Davao (Mindanao)

Your passport to the World - DFA Mindanao Campaign
After my epic trip to JinShanLing Great Wall, I realized that my Philippine Passport was about to expire.  Bear in mind that the immigration offices abroad will not allow you to enter their country if your passport is about to expire in 6 months.  Philippine immigration officers also check this and you won't be allowed to leave the country as well - this is for your own convenience.  That's why it's important to check when your passport expires and it's important to renew it ahead of time so you are ready to travel anytime.  Planning ahead will save you some money as well.

I was extremely happy to know that The Department of Foreign Affairs Mindanao has moved out from it's old office in Jacinto st., and has now moved in SM City Ecoland.  The whole 3rd floor of SM City Davao which used to house the different telecom and electronic shops is now the new office of DFA Mindanao.  It's a big improvement from their old office aesthetic-wise.

JinShanLing Great Wall: Travel Guide

Jin Shan Tower at JinShanLing Great Wall
Undoubtedly, one of the best portions of The Great Wall of China is the section at JinShanLing.  Most tourist, even local Chinese tourist, either just go to the Badaling or the Mutianyu sections.  I've never been to the Mutianyu section but I have been to Badaling Great Wall.  While it was still overwhelming for a first timer, the hoards of tourists just somehow destroys the experience.  Not only is it harder to climb the wall with all the crowding going around, the beauty of the Great Wall is somewhat diminished as well - our group even had to pass by a portion with puke on the ground.  For me, the best way to enjoy The Great Wall is when it's quiet, peaceful, and with only a few tourists around - just like viewing masterpieces in a museum.  If you are looking for a similar experience, your best chances of getting one is by going to JinShanLing.

Where to buy Tower Yema in Davao

Eng Seng Special Tower Yema Store in Davao

In a previous post, I discovered this Special Tower Yema that reminded me of how I liked my yema back when I was a kid.  Undoubtedly, the Eng Seng Special Tower Yema has become a great addition to the pasalubong (gift) selection available in Davao for kindhearted tourists who never forget to bring home goodies for their loved ones whenever they go on a trip.

I never thought it would reach this level.  I only got a hint of it when a couple of years back, a visiting friend from Cebu bought the most sought after yema in town at a convenient store.  Now, kiosks and stalls in the airport are already selling the Yema as well.  You can basically find the yema in most convenient stores, groceries, and supermarkets.

While it would be convenient to buy the Yema at these outlets, the best option would still be to get it from the source.  Unknown to most tourist, the Eng Seng Pasalubong Store is conveniently located at the city center.
