Intimidated Yet?

Fiddler crabs are known for having one big and one small claw.  You would think that they use the bigger claw to catch prey, but no, they would use it to wave at females in order to attract them for mating.  This guy certainly knows his priorities.  They also use the larger claw to fight off other suitors.  

A little intimidation is necessary.

While you would think that having a larger claw would be best, I read somewhere that larger claws actually tend to snap easier compared to smaller but more compact claws.

After Omphaloskepsis

Do not believe everything that you read.

That's another thing I got from Anonymous Lawyer.  Do not believe everything that you read!  Especially those written by bloggers. hehehe (^o^)/  I finally finished the book and was devastated with the ending. *sigh*  For the first time I actually felt sympathetic for the jerk and didn't root for the underdogs.  

I realized that this may have something to do with me feeling that I have been the underdog all my life.  Although I feel it, most people around me probably don't perceive me as such.  I guess I'm really not one then if the people's perception don't reflect it.  It's about time to start feeling like a champion and being one, I guess.

I discovered something last week.  When I dream of paradise, I dream of myself lounging by the sea surrounded by fine white sand and clear blue skies, smelling the cool crisp air, listening to the rhythmic splashes of the waves, and drinking an ice cold buko juice (coconut juice) complete with a tiny umbrella.  I noticed that I had the beach all to myself.  There were no people swimming on the beach, no children making sand castles by the shore, not even extra lounge chairs by my side.  There was only one chair and I was on it.  

If ever you've seen yourself the same way, you're probably the only company you'll ever need.  The world will never be to your liking and people will continue to disappoint you because they will never be you.  Imagine your vision of paradise.  Maybe you'll learn something from it.

There were some quotes from Agassi's book that I forgot to write about.  One was when he wrote "I play and keep playing because I choose to play.  Even if it's not your ideal life, you can always choose it.  No matter what your life is, choosing it changes everything." Because believe it or not, Agassi hated tennis and yet he excelled playing tennis and became one of the greatest champions of all time.

And Anonymous Lawyer had this to say about the Musician who has decided to pursue music instead of practicing law after graduation, "For some reason, no one ever wonders "what if" they don't pursue a career at a big law firm ... It's not brave to pursue impossible dreams.  It's brave to put those dreams aside and suck it up and choose a real job instead.  It's brave to fight through the imaginary "crisis of the soul" and realize that most people don't love their jobs but they do them anyway."

For that matter, I don't believe someone ever wondered "what if I pursued a career in software programming?" as well.  Nevertheless, just choose to love whatever you're doing and although you might not become as great as Agassi you might still get that applause from your peers.

Do everything well and do it the best you can and people, even your competition, will respect you for it.  Surround yourself with people that will appreciate your skill and whatever else there is that you have to give.

And yes, this blog hasn't always been truthful.  In a way, I use this blog to project a world  (my world) where the glass is always half full.  Writing it really makes a difference.  It makes you internalize it more than when you've just thought about it.  I guess the sentence "Convince yourself" would apply here.  It will help you keep your sanity but only for a while.  Sooner or later the bubble will burst.  (And when it does, just start writing again. hehehe (^o^)/)

On Good Food and Cooking

In response to the question "Why is it important to learn how to cook?", I came up with the response below.

It is important to learn how to cook because there is nothing like good food to start or end your day with, whether you be alone or in the company of family and friends. If time can heal all wounds, good food patches all those wounds until they're healed.

Quotes from Lunch Queen

I haven't gotten over the series "Lunch Queen." Here are some quotes I got from the series that I know you'll love!

"Koi wa ii mon nan da yo. Koi suru to, shigoto mo ganbarou to omou shi, amari muzukashiku kangaenaide tanoshimeba ii."

which I translated to

"Love is a good thing. When you fall in love, you feel inspired to do a lot of things like doing good at work. You shouldn't think too much about it, instead it would be better if you just enjoy it."

"Namida to tomo ni tabeta hito denakereba, jinsei no aji ga wakaranai." - Goethe

which they translated in english as

"If you've never eaten while crying, you don't know what life tastes like."

This was actually the theme of the movie. I searched for the saying from Goethe in english but couldn't find the exact lines. I think they may have gotten it from his poem "Who never eat with tears his bread."
