NBI Clearance 2014 in 10 Minutes

Getting an NBI Clearance in the Philippines has always been a dreaded ordeal by the local job hunting community.  You've probably read a lot of awful stories of delays and long queues in the NBI Clearance center near you.

You wouldn't believe it but I actually got my NBI clearance in 10 minutes!  It was that fast.  If you're in Manila I suggest you follow what I did.  All my worries were for nothing!  And a lot of blog posts are actually not updated.  This is the main reason why I'm writing my experience.  I actually got the idea from one of the comments in an old blog post.  Let's just say this is my way of paying it forward.  My only goal with this post is to help all Filipino job seekers out there who just want to land a decent job.

Flying Emirates (Day 1)

Four years later I'm back on a long haul flight bound for Europe!  We flew with Emirates to Dubai, had a 4 hour lay over there, and then took the flight from Dubai (DXB) to Leonardo da Vinci Airport (FCO) in Rome!  All in all it took us around 19 hours to get to our destination.  Travelling seems to fit one of those joys in life where in one has to go through hardships first before reaping the rewards.  For my back's sake, I'm certainly hoping so!  Definitely looking forward to enjoying this trip!  

Will we live to see the time come when the other side of the world will only be an hour or even just minutes away from us?  It shouldn't be that far away.

What do Kylie Minogue and Varekai have in Common

The problem I have with blogging is the fact that in order for me to be able to write good articles, I somehow have to be inspired first or be in the mood to write the article.  It's a form of release of the creative side bottled up inside me.  Like these next events, I can't seem to find the right story to attach the event with!  Well, I've decided that there's no need to be creative with this post as Cirque du Soleil and Kylie Minogue are born masters of reinvention and creativeness!  It was an indeed a very memorable and eventful July as I got to see Varekai and Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite Tour Concert in Manila.  

When it was announced that Cirque du Soleil was coming to the Philippines for the first time, with no hesitation, we booked our tickets to watch the show!  I was very excited to see this given the fact that Cirque du Soleil is very popular worldwide and I have yet to watch any of their shows abroad.  The closest I got to watching was when I went to Macau.  Unfortunately, during that time, they were on Chinese New Year's break!  So I didn't get to see ZAIA.

1, 2, 3 ... RON! (Ukokkei Ramen Ron)

"I finally found someone, that knocks me off my feet.  

I finally found the one, that makes me feel complete."  

Ramen that is.  But not just any kind of Ramen!  It's to-die-for Ramen!  Ramen that taste like it really came from Japan!  Finally found it at Ukokkei Ramen Ron.  Here are three reasons why you should try it.

Ukokkei Ramen Ron

1: It's very good!

Looking at the three Chinese characters that make up the name Ukokkei (烏骨鶏), individually, they actually stand for "Crow" "Bones" and "Chicken."  I had a hard time comprehending this because of the redundancy of having two kinds of birds in the name.  It only all made sense when on a certain blog post I read that the restaurant actually uses Black Chicken bones to prepare the soup.  That gave me some relief, as I don't think I would like to eat Crow at all. (^o^)/

2: It's very very good!

Tan Tan Men! 390 pesos

It takes time to prepare a broth as rich and flavorful as this!  Just from the look of it, you'd know that it would taste really good.  This is how ramen should be!  I hate ramen shops who use consomme powders as substitute.  It just doesn't taste nice.  

I ordered the Tan-Tan Men.  Just try it!  It will blow your mind away.  It was so good that I couldn't wait for it to cool down a bit - burnt my mouth a little and left a numbing feel the next day.  It's a bit costly at 390 pesos but it's worth it.

Ukokkei Shoyu Chashu Ramen

Accompanying food scout ordered the Ukokkei Shoyu Chashu Ramen.  Got no complains from her as well.  She gobbled up the whole ramen a good 10 minutes before I finished! (^o^)/ 

3: It's very very very good!      

The Ramen cooks and chefs even wear that signature white towel that they wrap over their heads.  Along with the stools facing the kitchen, these make up for a semi-authentic experience.  So eat your Ramen like the Japanese would - suck the noodles as loud as you can! And when you're done eating and you really enjoyed your meal, show your appreciation by shouting "GO-CHI-SOU-SA-MA!" out loud!

So what are you waiting for ... 1 , 2, 3 ... RON!

Forget about ordering Gyouza.  It was really burnt.  Technically, this is what you would call a Yaki Gyouza.  Somehow, I miss the plain Gyouzas where you don't grill or fry one side.  Haven't tried the other dishes, but basing on how they prepared the Gyouza, this may not be the place for other Japanese favorites.  One thing for sure though is that it's definitely the right place for RAMEN!

Lucky or Unlucky Vincent

Vincent is the only male in the house.  He lives with 5 women.  Is he lucky?

First time to go to Manila Ocean Park.  Too bad I didn't have time to explore the Oceanarium.  But I did have time to watch the Sea Lion Show!  Worth a 150 pesos for 20 minutes of fun.  Watch these sea lions dance to the tune of K-POP group 2ne1's Fire!  Watch this video!  You'll love it.   

Be honest, did you look at the sea lions or were your eyes transfixed on the trainers?  hahaha.  Felt really bad for the other trainer.  He doesn't seem to have any rhythm in his body.  Vincent is the sea lion on the left (in the video), by the way.  He's the only male sea lion in a group of 6 at the Manila Ocean Park.

Lucky Vincent gets to kiss this lovely foreigner.  Want a photo op with Vincent? No.  Want a photo op with this girl? Yes! Too bad the organizers only allowed for Vincent's.

We also had time to go see the majestic Jelly Fishes.  A certified crowd pleaser in any aquarium in the world.  Just felt that the containers could have been a little cleaner.  And as one of my friends commented, the interior design seems to have been designed to resemble a pub/bar.  I'm still undecided whether to love or hate its double purpose.  I guess it's okay as long as smoking will not be allowed.
