Showing a little Vulnerability is Beneficial

I came across this video, a TEDx talk by Brene Brown called "The Power of Vulnerability".  First and foremost, I'd like to acknowledge the person who found it first, The Faceless Trader!  To you, I say, thank you.

This video reminded me of why I started blogging.  In my first ever blog post (Multiply.com), I wrote:

Make your own Caipirinha!

Caipirinha is Brazil's national cocktail!  I can't believe that a country can have a national cocktail.  This makes me wonder what the national cocktail of the Philippines is. For Cebu city it might be something mixed with Mango while for Davao maybe something mixed with "Suha" (Pomelo).  And the alcohol base will have to be "tuba" or "lambanog"!  But I doubt if it will make a great tasting cocktail. hehehe (^o^)/

The Caipirinha used to be Brazil's best kept secret, but it is now known all over the world!  And not only Brazilians favor this drink but a lot of other nationalities as well.  You can include Filipinos in the list as my friends and I love this drink as well.  It's fresh, smooth, and yet with a strong punch.

Here's the simple recipe how to make your own Caipirinha!

Pilipinas, Tara Na! Campaign

Ang bawat Pilipino ay hinihikayat na makibahagi sa pagpapaunlad ng turismo ng bansa.  Huwag maging dayuhan sa sariling bayan! Pilipinas, Tara Na!
The battle cry of the new Department of Tourism campaign encouraging every Filipino to contribute in the promotion of tourism in the Philippines.  Aside from helping promote the Philippines as a tourism destination to foreigners, every Filipino can also contribute by visiting the unique and different cities - spread all over the 7,107 islands of the Philippines - ourselves.

Here's the new version of the Tara na, Byahe Tayo! video.  Enjoy!

Since it's virtually impossible to incorporate all the beauty that the Philippines has to share in one song, the organizers have decided to make 3 versions!  This is the first version.  I can't wait for the next two! Continue reading this article to see the old version and the new lyrics.

Molten Lava Chocolate Cake Recipe

Chocolate Fondant (Lava Cake) Recipe

My passion for cooking and baking has been ignited again after watching the season 2 of MASTERCHEF AUSTRALIA.  I was rooting for Callum Hann, the youngest contestant in that season, simply because he's comfortable in making desserts and he seems to know flavors really well!  One memorable moment was when he and another contestant made a chocolate fondant dessert!

When you hear the word fondant, you'd probably think of that thick white icing used in decorating wedding cakes.  And if you've tried one, you'd definitely think it's nothing special!  It's just white and very sweet.  Even barely edible in some instances.  A Chocolate Fondant however is not an icing, it's usually a cupcake that been baked just about enough time to solidify the edges but not the insides.  In so doing, hot chocolate syrup flows out from the center when you cut the cake!  A very lovely surprise awaiting the diner for that theatrical effect.  After all, we always eat first with our eyes!  And melted or gooey chocolate always tastes good!

ALIVE! The Farm At San Benito Green Smoothie

I've never been to The Farm at San Benito (Batangas, Philippines) and I've never eaten at their restaurant called "Alive!."  A great name for a restaurant don't you think? This restaurant is one of the first vegan restaurant in Asia.  I've heard good reviews about their food - organic, natural, and yet very tasty!  I can't wait to go there and try the food myself.  In the meantime, I got hold of their Green Smoothie recipe through heart2heart.  I think it's the same drink labeled as Chef Schoener's Superfood in their Shakes & Smoothies menu.

This is My LIFE

THIS IS MY LIFE.

I'll do what I love, and I'll do it often.
If I don't like something, I'll change it. If I don't like my job, I'll quit.

IF I DON'T HAVE ENOUGH TIME, I'LL STOP WATCHING TV!

If I'm looking for the love of your life, I'll stop.
She will be WAITING for me when I START DOING THINGS THAT I LOVE.

Stop over analyzing, all emotions are beautiful.
LIFE IS SIMPLE.

When I eat, I'll appreciate EVERY LAST BITE.
I'll open my mind, arms, and heart to NEW THINGS.
And people, we are united in our differences.

I'll ask the next person I see what their passion is, and share my inspiring dream with them.
I'LL TRAVEL OFTEN.
Getting lost will help me find myself.

What do Kylie Minogue and Varekai have in Common

The problem I have with blogging is the fact that in order for me to be able to write good articles, I somehow have to be inspired first or be in the mood to write the article.  It's a form of release of the creative side bottled up inside me.  Like these next events, I can't seem to find the right story to attach the event with!  Well, I've decided that there's no need to be creative with this post as Cirque du Soleil and Kylie Minogue are born masters of reinvention and creativeness!  It was an indeed a very memorable and eventful July as I got to see Varekai and Kylie Minogue's Aphrodite Tour Concert in Manila.

When it was announced that Cirque du Soleil was coming to the Philippines for the first time, with no hesitation, we booked our tickets to watch the show!  I was very excited to see this given the fact that Cirque du Soleil is very popular worldwide and I have yet to watch any of their shows abroad.  The closest I got to watching was when I went to Macau.  Unfortunately, during that time, they were on Chinese New Year's break!  So I didn't get to see ZAIA.
From a group of 20 street performers at its beginnings in 1984, Cirque du Soleil® is now a major Quebec-based organization providing high-quality artistic entertainment. The company has close to 4,000 employees from over 40 different countries, including 1,000 artists. Cirque du Soleil® has brought wonder and delight to almost 80 million spectators in over 200 cities on five continents. In 2008, Cirque du Soleil will present 18 shows simultaneously throughout the world. The company has received such prestigious awards as the Emmy, Drama Desk, Bambi, ACE, Gémeaux, Félix, and Rose d’Or de Montreux.
