Grateful Wednesday!

A new thing I'd like to introduce in this blog is some of the things that I'm grateful for!  All the pictures will be linked to my Facebook account's Gratitude Wall.  I hope to be able to post one every week.  Here goes ...

Island Java Coffee Beans from Guam!  Thank you JH!

Authentic Highland Tea from Nepal / India. Light, aromatic, and soothing!  Thank you RA!

Chinese Tea from China! Thank you JL!

Kopi 'O' instant coffee from Malaysia! Thank you AM!

Bench Gift Certificates and Fully Booked Gift Certificates from BDO Credit Cards! Thank you!
We already used the first batch to claim PATCHI Chocolates from Lebanon.
Yummy, attractive gold and silver wrappings, but quite expensive as well.

Yema Heaven!

One of my childhood favorites would have to be YEMA!  With the help of our office secretary, I remember trying to make one before with just evaporated milk!  We simply reduced the evaporated milk in low fire until it was the same consistency as Yema.  After removing it from the heat, you can then add chopped peanuts to enhance the taste.  This recipe was good but it wasn't like the ones being sold in the stores.

Yema used to be just shaped into balls.  Now, they have YEMA TOWERS! This is the Yema that I want.  Crunchy on the outside, soft and gooey on the inside.  Never mind the yema balls that are like Pastillas de Leche, they are not as exciting to eat as these!  Got these for 7 pesos each at a 7-11 Convenient Store.  Cheap heaven!

Anybody with a good Yema recipe, please share! And while you're at it, if you can figure out how they shaped these into towers, let me in on the secret!

Snail Bites

Lessons from my friend the Snail.

Life is not a race.  It is a gift.  Take your time and enjoy it.

Smile!
Laugh!
Play!
Smell the roses!

There is love and beauty everywhere! There is beauty in you.
Strike a pose, show them what you've got.  Show them what you're made of.

And ... don't forget to take a POOP every chance you get! (^o^)/

Release not only waste but all that anger, hatred, bitterness, and negativity in you.

Most importantly, remember to leave it where you left it! Don't carry it around!

Photography tip: Spray water on your subject (when applicable) to make it look fresh and vibrant (^o^)/

New Year Treats from my BPI Family!

"Hop on your way to good fortune in the year of the metal Rabbit!"  This was BPI Family's tag line when it launched its Chinese new year promo!

To celebrate the Chinese New Year BPI Family Bank gave away Hopia (Chinese cake/biscuit) and Tikoy (Rice cake) to all visiting clients!  Aside from these Chinese delicacies they also offered clients who deposited at least Php 25,000 for individual accounts and Php 50,000 for corporate accounts to pick a "Good Luck Angpao."  The Angpao contained varying amounts from 20 pesos to as big as 500 pesos!

In the branch I went to, the office was decorated with red balloons and Chinese lanterns.  The officers of the branch also wore red!  The color red signifies happiness and good luck!

It was pure coincidence that I went there to deposit new funds!  I went late in the afternoon so they ran out of Tikoy and Hopia already.  Nevertheless, I qualified to pick a Good Luck Angpao!

I got 50 pesos and 20 pesos.  It's not that much but more importantly, by receiving an Angpao, I already feel lucky for the rest of the year.  I heard that a small boy who opened an account earlier in the day got the Angpao with 500 pesos in it.  The kid just got an instant 2% interest on his 25,000 peso deposit.  The officer said that the kid prayed before drawing his Angpao from the box.  Prayers really do work!   What a story. (^o^)/

Furthermore, knowing your bank officers and being friendly to them also has its perks.  That's how I was able to draw 2 lucky red envelopes instead of just 1. (^o^)/  This is of course in addition to other services relating to my UITF and Mutual Fund placements that they greatly help me out with.

Kiong Hee Huat Chai! I wish you all a prosperous year of the Silver Rabbit!

If Women were to be Measured

Girls playing with fire! Hot hot hot! Spotted at the BBQ Open House party of Amiya Resort Residences, the first high-end development of Kisan Lu Land Inc., at Puan, Davao City.

Puan is at the outskirts of the city already, minutes away from the Ulas junction, right on the road going to Bukidnon.  The development boasts of a 1,500 sq.m. Infinity pool, a 5,500 sq.m. Lagoon, and a 735 sq.m. Meditation garden within the resort (as they would like to put it).  It's quite an undertaking.  Promising .... but maybe will be just that until the end.  (Managing a subdivision is already hard enough, add to that managing a resort as well, seems like an impossible feat.  Not to mention how they plan to make the clubhouse self sustaining without losing exclusivity unless they're not planning to do so in the first place.)  Well, let's hope not as most residential lots are already sold out.

Let me get back to these hot girls! Girls playing with fire can be so sexy! Don't you think? (More pictures after the jump.)

Originally, this post was suppose to be about how one was trying to be sexy while one was naturally sexy.
Can you tell which one is trying to be sexy and which one is naturally sexy for me?

And then I came across this passage from Guy Kawasaki's Rules for Revolutionaries ...

A woman is often measured by the things she cannot control.  She is measured by the way her body curves or doesn't curve.
By where she is flat or straight or round.  She is measured by 36-24-36 and inches and ages and numbers.  By all the outside things that don't ever add up to who she is on the inside.
And so if a woman is to be measured, let her be measured by the things she can control, by who she is and who she is trying to become because as every woman knows, measurements are only statistics, and statistics lie.

Physical attributes do count but ultimately, it's her intelligence that will keep me coming back for more.

Spotted! Gadget Girl in the City!

You may think you already own all the cool gadgets there is out there.  Wait until you see Gadget Girl! She makes unannounced appearances in the city from time to time.  You'll be lucky to spot her really, for with all her gadgets come great powers, and you'll never know who she'll come as.  She can even turn herself invisible with just the twitch of her Gizmo watch.  Luckily, I spotted her one cloudy afternoon in Davao!  See how she looks after the jump (^o^)/

From afar, it should be easy to spot her with her black hat with white stripes (see bottom left side of picture) that completes her look.  I love her! (^O^)/

What Will It be Worth

After graduating last April 2010, I finally got around to going back to Ateneo to get this.  Surprisingly, it wasn't that inconvenient to get it.  I was afraid that since I already lost whatever receipt I had that it would be impossible to get it just by appearing at the Registrar.  I was happy to know that all I had to do was present any valid ID which I have ready in my wallet at all times.  The question now is ... will it be worth anything to me in the years to come?

(Master in Business Administration Diploma)

The diploma of course, is just a symbolic representation of what a student (supposedly) has really acquired in school ... and that is Knowledge, Wisdom, and Experience that one can carry on one's shoulders forever.  So it may show its worth, I hope my shoulders are broad enough to carry it in the years to come. (Whatever that means. hehehe)
