Well Appreciated

I just came home from a 3 hour long exam in Marketing Management and this is what greeted me when I entered the house.

Cruchy Sesame Peanuts!

It's one of my favorites.  I love it.  Now who would want to leave home when you're this well-taken cared of right?  I don't normally like it when I'm being treated like a baby but I guess tonight is an exception and all along maybe it's what I really want deep down inside.  I may never be this appreciative again, or it might take a long while before this happens again, so I'm gonna just write it down and say "Thank You Ma! Thank You Pa!"  You guys always think of me and I seldom show you my appreciation.  Might as well say Happy Mother's and Father's day in advance! hehehe (^o^)/

Tomorrow will be my Managerial Statistics exam.  After that, will be my Financial Management exam.  And the day after that will be Production Management.  And finally on Saturday will be the most dreaded exam in Strategic Management! After a week of agonizing and energy-draining exams, it's no wonder why most students fail the first time they take this.  Anybody would have to be superman just to survive this week!  And thinking of the 37 paged case study that our professor is planning on giving us, just makes you lose your spirit.  I think it will take me 2 hours just to read and analyze that.  That leaves me maybe just an hour or so to finish my written analysis of a case.

"There will always be a first time."  There will always be Outliers!  With the school jokes running around, most students already view this sentence negatively.  I however, choose to view it positively.  I will be that Outlier!  I will be that statistical anomaly!  Not on the left, not on the middle, but way to the right of the curve - way above the mean! (^o-)v

And the reason for my success will be .....         will be .....

... these very delectable crunchy sesame peanuts!  Let me worry about the pimples next week!

Hacked Into Someone else's Internet Connection

I'm so happy with what I accomplished today! I found two new wireless internet connections at home.  One is an unsecured connection and the other is a secured one.  Yes, I successfully hacked my way into somebody else's internet connection!  Some people are so predictable hehehe (^o^)/

Too bad the signal doesn't reach as far as my bedroom.  I have to stay outside at the terrace to get the signal - but it's very strong and the connection is considerably fast! woohoo!  But what good is more than one internet connection, right?  Well, if you have more than one PC then you can use separate connections to browse the internet.  This way you can have one dedicated PC for downloading alone, maximize the bandwidth of that connection. (^o^)/  And another advantage is when there's something wrong with your own connection, you can try the others and see if you can connect through them. Well, not really a significant advantage for me right now but I'm just loving the fact that I was able to guess somebody else's password. he he he he

A Taste of India - Bhujiya

I have a well-developed sense of taste.  Simply put, I have a WEIRD taste.  I eat almost anything!  Given enough time and trials, I can put anything in my mouth and not throw up.  Well, maybe not really hehehe (^o^)/  I still do get grossed out.  It's just that it has become a habit of mine to try everything there is to try.  And comparing myself to the average Filipino, I believe I can take in more types of food.  Just to give you a few examples, I have tasted raw horse meat or popularly called as "Basashi" in Japan.  I have tasted Kangaroo steak in Australia.  I've grown fond of some varieties of "natto" which are very smelly but very nutritious fermented soy beans in Japan.  And, I personally love curry!  Even Indian curry which quite a few of you probably despise as well because of the smell.

It's hard to find Indian curry dishes in the Philippines.  There are not that many restaurants that serve them.  And when i go out with my parents to eat, I definitely can't take them to one!  I can still remember our Taj Minar experience!  My mom barely ate and my dad was barely able to push down a couple of spoonfuls.  Maybe because he was hungry but more likely because he was living up to what he always answers when asked what he wants to eat - "chin tsai" (which means "anything" in fookien) hehehe (^o^)/

And so I was so pleased to receive a pack of Bhujiya!  I think it's pronounced as "buhiya."  I didn't know what it was at first but the taste was magnificent.  Everything Incredible India has to offer in one small pack.  It was a mixture of nuts, dried fruits, rice crispies, and seeds flavored in Indian curry!  It was like eating nuts and Cheetos in curry flavor.  Bite into the seeds and your mouth will be full of aroma and flavor that is so uniquely India.  My only complain is that I would have wanted the rice crispies to be much bigger, maybe nut-size, so that they're easier to pick.  Although one can always use a spoon to help in this matter, nothing beats eating it with your bare hands and licking your fingers afterward for that one last taste of curry!

To my Singapore friends, I'm sure it's available there!  I dare you try it!  And bring some back home for me (^o^)/

To my friend who introduced me to Bhujiya, thank you!  You will always be in my hard-drive (^o^)/  I can't wait to try all those other things you gave me as well.

ciao!

Of Frozen Yogurts and Coffee Cats

Are you a coffee cat?  First time I see the name the term "copy cat" came right into mind.  Who can forget Sharon Cuneta's famous movie line "You're nothing but a second rate trying hard copy cat!" (^o^)/

Coffee Cat is one of the latest coffee shops to open here in Davao.  I'm loving the word play.  But one also has to wonder if this coffee shop will turn out to be just another copy cat.

I haven't had the chance to taste their coffee until recently.  Every time I enter a new coffee shop, I always order Mocha!  It's how I gauge coffee.  Before, I always ordered the ice-blended variety (blame it on Starbucks' Mocha Frappuccino), but now I seem to prefer hot drinks already.  It must be the age.  And so I tried their Cafe Mocha.  I have to say it's one of the best I've tried here in Davao!  All it took was one sip!  I loved the flavor.  I looked towards the counter and for the first time noticed a red sign with the letters "illy" written on it.  They use illy coffee beans!  I believe these are from Italy.  It reminded me of another coffee shop I liked in Cebu, Postrio.

Although the coffee was very inviting, the first time I set foot on the store, I actually ordered something else.  I ordered Frozen Yogurt! It has finally made its way to Davao!  I'm so happy!  Even my Nepalese friend was so excited to see one.  And tonight, I ordered my third cup. I paired it with strawberry-flavored mochi!  It was like eating Mochi ice cream - another thing made in Japan that you must try. ^^  I got another cup for my mom, I thought the sourness of the yogurt might turn her off but she was actually impressed as well.

Frozen Yogurt is a great substitute for ice cream.  However, I'm not really sure if it's as guiltless as it claims to be. hehehe  (I'm trying to be careful now as I'm trying to lose weight just in time for the summer season.) (^o^)/

A small cup of frozen yogurt from Coffee Cat costs 80 pesos.  About the same price as the ones in Manila.  It's definitely a bit expensive for the Davao market.  I hope it stays and other frozen yogurt stalls should follow.

Look at their take out carrier ... I think it's ingenious ^^
